Summary:
Similar to Thomas de Pourquery, Laurent Bardainne embodies a French style of jazz free of sectarianism. This salutary artistic quality is confirmed by his multiple bands, starting with Tigre d'Eau Douce and Limousine. Launched fifteen years ago, this endearing group is also the most personal project of the Breton saxophonist. Recorded in April 2021, on the stage of the Dynamo de Pantin during the Banlieues Bleues festival, the present set reveals the inclination of the combo for haunted atmospheres and more precisely for the cinematographic universe. This photogenic determinacy is perceptible with "Alert to Caracas," or even thanks to "Columbus," whose ethereal synthetic layers create a dreamlike atmosphere. Surrounded by the faithful Maxime Delpierre on guitar, David Aknin on drums, and Frédéric Soulard on keyboards, Laurent Bardainne is not, however, satisfied with this Hollywood touch. Confirmation with "Mekong," an excerpt from the remarkable Thai saga "Siam Roads," and especially with "Autoroute," a particularly addictive composition whose title and use of synthesizers here echo the founder "Autobahn" of Kraftwerk. Vincent Caffiaux.
