- Summary:
- This film series, the famous "Gloria" films, was a pioneer in educational film-making in the field of psychology. A film series such as this, in which three therapists - distinguished by their different orientations - share their therapeutic endeavors, had never been made before. Gloria, an actual patient, was courageous enough to allow herself to be photographed while engaged in therapy. We are allowed the privilege of seeing and feeling what actually transpires. The contributions of Dr. Rogers, Dr. Perls, and Dr. Ellis to the field of psychology are monumental, and the continually growing popularity of this series remains a tribute to their achievements. The late Dr. Perls, founder of Gestalt Therapy, uses an entirely different approach from Dr. Rogers, equally effective, with a similar goal. Dr. Perls frustrates Gloria into standing on her own two feet and abandoning her roles and games. He frustrates her into being real, knowing and owning her feelings and being in the here and now.
