- Summary:
- Mauro Bigonzetti is one of the leading choreographers of the Italian ballet world. Because of him it was possible to modernise the Italian ballet landscape. For 10 years, Bigonzetti was the artistic director of Aterballetto. During that time he developed his personal and unique style. Today, he is one of the best-known international artists and works worldwide with the most famous ensembles, like the English National Ballet, the Ballet National de Marseille, the Stuttgarter Ballett, the Staatsballett Berlin, the Ballet Estable Teatro Argentino de La Plata and the New York City Ballet. In January 2011, his work "Cinque", a co-production with the Bolschoi-Theater and the London Coliseum, premiered in Los Angeles and Moscow. "La Piaf" made its debut in Hannover, "I Fratelli" in Stuttgart. With his former ensemble Aterballetto, his "Le Sacre du Printemps" celebrated its world premiere at the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden in April 2011. The special feature of Bigonzetti's choreographies is the possibility for each dancer to express himself as a soloist. Because of the terrific changes between revue-dancing up to intense, passionate passages, his choreographies are so fascinating for the audience. Bigonzetti's ideas seem to be endless. The director Andreas Morell accompanied Mauro Bigonzetti during rehearses and draws a comprehensive portrait of the exceptional choreographer.
