Summary:
Food Fighter is the inspirational story of one woman who abandoned capitalism in favour of social activism. Ronni Kahn founded OzHarvest to wage war on food waste, and to expose an inconvenient truth: that four million tonnes of food is discarded annually while two million Aussies suffer from food insecurity.Part 1: Entrepreneur Ronni Kahn introduces OzHarvest: her organisation that's taking on government and big business to expose an inconvenient truth: that four million tonnes of food is discarded annually while two million Aussies suffer from food insecurity. OzHarvest organises the collection of food from a variety of sources and aims to redistribute it to those who need it most.Ronni discusses how private companies' unwillingness to take liability for food donations is a major cause of waste, as well as mentioning how governmental restrictions and regulations may be developed to combat this. This clip also contains an investigation into a few different farms and exposes some of the causes behind waste at the initial harvest level.
