- Summary:
- We now focus on the Period leading to the current Paris, especially the beginning of the 20th century which witnessed the genius of many architects and scientists. Gustave Eiffel just completed his masterpiece, the great tower. Local population was moving around by a new kind of train: the "Métropolitain". Intellectuals and artists came massively to the capital, making it their home. From Montparnasse to Saint- Germain-des-Prés through Montmartre, the City of Lights was at the top of creation, diversity and exchange. Despite the two wars, Paris rose from the ashes. The second half of the 20th Century was also action-packed with the raising of new monuments.
