- Summary:
- Communication and language development are at the heart of this documentary as they are the building blocks from which literacy skills develop. This film will show you how you can lay the foundations for developing literacy skills from birth up to the age of five. This film will provide you with real insight into how playful activities such as symbolic mark making, pretend play, taking time for conversation and sharing stories, support the development of language(s), reading and writing. By understanding what kind of learning needs to happen before actual reading and writing begins, you will discover in detail how everyday stimulating activities lay the foundations for early literacy. Made in collaboration with Jennie Lindon - chartered psychologist, early years specialist and author. We present all current research and theories on developing skills of literacy and their practical implications - in a straightforward way. The actual examples of children demonstrate the reality of how these theories can be seamlessly combined into everyday experiences for children.
