Summary:
With smartphone apps and consumer gadgets, we can all monitor more and more about our daily lives. Dr Kevin Fong finds out how digital technology is bringing about a revolution in medicine. He meets pioneers in monitoring, from the leading physician who's more likely to prescribe apps than drugs to his patients; to the most monitored man in the world, who spotted his illness from numbers, not from symptoms; to the Professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology who can monitor how people are using their phones to diagnose depression and even track flu. Finally Kevin meets someone who he sees as the future of medicine: a teenage computer scientist, someone who he believes will be able to mine the data that we all produce via self-monitoring, and uncover secrets about human health.
