- Pumps are devices used to move liquids or slurries. Liquids are moved from higher pressure to lower pressure, and overcome this pressure by adding energy to a system. Pumps can be classified as either being positive displacement, or dynamic. In this short course by CTE Skills Training, you will be given a basic introduction on pumps.In this course, you will learn:-The difference between a pump being classified as dynamic or positively displaced-The difference between axial forces and centrifugal forces for moving liquids-How to determine the difference between rotaries and reciprocating pumps-How to describe internal slipIn this four minute course, you will get a great introduction to pumps using animated simulations as well as audio narration.
