Summary:
When explorers of the past were unable to map an area of the world, they described it as terra incognita - land unknown. Nowadays, no map admits to a terra incognita. And yet this is what I found between Italy's mountains. Across Europe, refugees are placed in almost empty villages to fight rural depopulation. But how do refugees make a home in a place others choose to abandon? Terra Incognita is part of an artistic research project in Valle di Comino - a valley hidden between Rome and Napels. Meet Amadou, Gigino, Thompson, little Baraa and many more in this mosaic film. Terra Incognita will transport you into a world unknown, where all logic is turned on its head - where Google does not know the answer, where winning does not mean you go to the next round and where new buildings remain empty while the derelict ones are full of life. This is more than a documentary film, it is a glimpse into an absurd reality in a land unknown. Quirky, emotional and humorous - just as human life.
