- Summary:
- Follow the Right Honourable James Hacker as he enters central government in one of the most influential British comedies of all time. James has landed the plum job of Cabinet Minister to the Department of Administration. At last he is in a position of power and can carry out some long-needed reforms - or so he thinks. He is totally unprepared for the deviousness of his Permanent Under-Secretary. Sir Humphrey Appleby has a long and distinguished career of putting politicians in their place, and Jim Hacker is no exception. The Minister has a plan to turn an official visit by the President of Buranda to party political advantage. He wants to move the President's meeting with the Queen to Scotland to coincide with the local elections. The Permanent Secretary dislikes the plan, especially when it precipitates an unforeseen crisis.
