- Summary:
- This video demonstrates how to perform the surgical technique of iridocyclectomy based on the example of a patient with a ciliary body tumor. Iridocyclectomy or its variant, cyclectomy, is an excellent surgical option for the complete removal of well-delineated iridociliary or ciliary body tumors, providing diagnosis and treatment in a single procedure. The video opens with explanation of preoperative assessment, anesthetic management, and surgical prep. Each of the surgical steps is then precisely presented and described. The sequence begins with a conjunctival flap and continues with an outer scleral flap, an inner scleral flap, uveal incisions, tumor excision, and wound closure. The aim of the video is to familiarize the viewer with all steps in the procedure, thereby enhancing the likelihood of surgical success. Attention is drawn to modifications in the procedure that would be appropriate in circumstances different from the presented case.
