Summary:
When San Francisco began issuing marriage certificates to same sex couples in 2004, hundreds of gay and lesbian couples lined up for the chance to finally commit in a public venue, in front of friends, family and the state. Marry Me: Stories from the San Francisco Weddings reveals the emotional tale behind four of these couples who married. Joel & Fred met while square dancing and forged a life together. Julia & Jennifer share their lives as co-chefs at San Francisco restaurant. Mark & Mark's relationship is highly influenced by their traditional backgrounds. Annie & Rochelle, self-described as soul-mates, didn't even intend to have their ceremony when they arrived in San Francisco to get their marriage license. Yet they were so moved by their surroundings they felt compelled to do more than just "be counted." Marry Me focuses on these relationships -- the emotions of the marriage day and the love stories of these couples, and may other couples to create this snapshot of a historic moment.
