Summary:

In a personal journey that takes him from Yorkshire to London and Seoul, Simon Armitage discovers how Britain has become a nation of technology hungry upgraders - in the digital revolution of the noughties. He begins by meeting a class of over fifty school children where just one child is without a mobile. He also finds out that men, and increasingly women, have bought into owning the latest phones, flat screen TVs, sleek laptops and MP3 players. But why have we bought into the upgrade culture? And what about the future? Upgrade Me is a quirky and entertaining film which also provides a platform for deeper thinking about our relations with the state-of-the-art technology world we have created - and its impact on our culture.
