Summary:
Long before the Green New Deal, President Franklin Roosevelt introduced a bold plan to combat the Great Depression. He called it the New Deal. The mosaic of plans, programs, and reforms put Americans back to work and restored confidence in the US economy. It didn't break the depression altogether, but it changed the face of America and laid the foundation for success in World War II and the postwar prosperity that followed.
