Summary:
In December 1997, twelve Jews living in Beijing, China, a mixture of Americans, Australians and Israelis, traveled to Kaifeng to see what remained of that city's 800 year old Jewish community. They found descendants of the original Jews who had never so much as celebrated the Jewish Sabbath, and who, according to the strict definition of Jewish law, were not Jewish. Yet, they identified as Jews. This documentary describes the results of the meeting of these two groups of people interspersed with segments about the history of the Jewish community of Kaifeng.
