The anthological exhibition of artist Miguel Ángel Battegazzore (Montevideo 1931), was conceived and realized within the framework of the celebration of the artist's ninety years. But this grand project not only tries to display a look at what has already been produced in a long and fruitful career, but also includes new works, since Battegazzore continues to paint. The exhibition occupies the entire upper floor of the Museo Nacional de Artes Visuales (MNAV) and it is through a hundred and a half works -paintings and sculptures mainly- that a journey is made of the formidable career of the artist from his beginnings to the present, in a search that does not cease, beyond formats and supports, but arises from a radical interrogation of the concept of art and its raison d'être as a maker. "An extensive, multifaceted, coherent and perspicuous career which began in the mid-twentieth Century. Miguel Ángel Battegazzore is generally considered one of the most important Uruguayan artists. Nowadays, the 90-year-old creator continues with his creative process, therefore increasing his artistic legacy even more." --Page 313.
