- Summary:
- In this variation, Daniel presents with a moderate case of Autism. Daniel was brought in to speak with the therapist because of an outburst at school following an incident of bullying by his classmate Ryan Fields. When Ryan scooted his desk over to Daniel and whispered something in Daniel's ear, Daniel got mad and threw an eraser. Daniel’s ability to recount the entire ordeal and go back and forth with the interviewer is indicative of the fact that it’s not as severe. Daniel’s speech is still pressured but he’s able to stop for a moment and think and then respond. In this case, asking a question doesn't necessarily paralyze Daniel and he doesn't dismiss it, ignore it or change the subject. Daniel does avoid eye contact but still appears to be comfortable in the room, he’s not rocking and there’s no echolalia.
