Dénes Várjon and Veronika Eberle next take the stage for the enchanting and rarely heard Concerto for Violin and Piano by Hummel, Mozart's most famous pupil and a rival of Beethoven in their day. We then take a delightfully unexpected detour to the twentieth century for Janáček's Concertino for Piano, Two Violins, Viola, Clarinet, Horn and Bassoon, a healthy mix of intellectual modernity and easygoing naturalism.
