- Summary:
- Ramon Oviedo was born in Barahona in 1927 and passed away in 2015, at the age of 91, leaving a transcendent and unique artistic legacy. Considered a remarkable figure of Dominican Expressionism, he is undoubtedly the leading figure of Dominican painting to emerge in the 1960s. The main objective of this exhibition is to present the work of Ramón Oviedo from a critical and reflective perspective. The 140 works presented include different techniques, including oil on canvas, acrylics, mixed media, drawings, and some sculpture. This select group of works presented at the Museum of Modern Art is part of his most recent production, which dialogues with the manifestations of current art that make up the 25th Bienal Nacional de Artes Visuales. It can be considered a preview of the important exhibition "Haz y Envés: una visión retrospectiva de la obra de Ramón Oviedo" which will be presented at the National Gallery of Fine Arts, in parallel to the Biennial.
