Summary:
This study aims to investigate the issue of sexual harassment of Korean working women in the workplace, which has become a prime area for social/sexual interaction between men and women in modern Korean society. This study has several purposes. First, it will present demographic information on the prevalence, negative effects and actual experience of sexual harassment; second, it will examine the internal (IR) and external (ER) reactions to SH, as well as the dynamic relationship (IER) between IR and ER; third, it will develop a set of instruments enabling the researchers to examine the qualitative characteristics of IR, ER, and IER; fourth, it presents a theoretical model for the study of women's attitudes and behavior with respect to SH. Significant variations are found in women's internal and external reactions toward SH in accordance with the kinds of SH, the occupational relationship between harasser and harassee, sex-role related attitudinal/psychological traits, and demographic/situational backgrounds.
