"Assorted correspondence penned by Lord Byron, predominantly regarding "Don Juan". Includes comments on the Castlereagh stanzas and printing in addition to Byron's famous comment on Murray's edits: "You shan't make canticles of my cantos. The poem will please if it is lively - if it is stupid it will fail - but I will have none of your damned cutting and slashing." Also includes the poet's recollection of an argument between George Lamb and Scrope Davies at Cambridge, and a letter of October 1819 announcing he will never return to England."
