Summary:
"Letters from Philip Stanhope to John Murray III, with related papers. They concern works of his published by Murray, including "The Forty-Five", the remaining three volumes of his "History of England", "Letter to Jared Sparks, Esq." and "Joan of Arc", reprinted from his "Historical Essays". He advises on Murray travel handbooks, and there is also discussion of politics, and of his reading, with comments on manuscripts sent to him for criticism. The letters are signed "Mahon", his title until March 1855."
