Biography/History:
David Naylor, DProf, MA, PGDip is a director of a consultancy practice researching and developing practical interventions to mitigate the effects of bullying and incivility for individuals, teams and services. He has a professional doctorate and a MA in organizational change. He trained in consultancy at the Tavistock, facilitation at the University of Surrey and has a diploma in psychodynamic counselling from Birkbeck. David has led projects at a senior level in the NHS and Civil Service. This work builds on his doctoral research into the necessity and difficulty of being 'constructively awkward' in organizations, a two-year secondment to the NHS Sign up to Safety Campaign and a long career in leadership and organizational development at The King's Fund. At The Kings Fund, David co-directed twelve cohorts of the Top Manager Program (TMP) and led various senior leadership and board development projects. Previously he worked for Tavistock Consulting and taught on the Tavistock's doctorate program in Consultancy. He has been a Chief Executive of a VCS organization providing residential and nursing home care for people suffering from enduring mental illness and with learning disabilities. He was a service development manager in Haringey mental health services, the mental health advisor to the Leonard Cheshire Foundation and a ward manager at the Maudsley Hospital.
