Summary:

This report estimates the monetary costs that would result from closing the nuclear power generating facilities at Indian Point, New York. The report estimates the total magnitude of the costs, the major components of costs, and the sensitivity of those components to major underlying assumptions. Both the direct costs of closure and the secondary costs induced by those direct costs are considered. Section II on incremental generating costs and Sec. III on one-time costs and savings cover the direct costs resulting from closing the Indian Point facilities. Section IV on what is called business costs and Sec. V on the importance and size of secondary costs cover the less direct costs that would probably be associated with closure. Section VI then states the major conclusions and indicates those areas where the currently available information is deficient. The appendix contains the computer program of the cost model, the input datasets, and the more important output files.
