Summary:
Tencent Holdings Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Tencent) is one of the largest integrated Internet service providers in China. Faced with the wave of informationization and the current situation of staff scale explosion, Tencent has decisively introduced the three-pillar model. Taking the three stages of upgrading its shared service center (SSC) to a shared delivery center (SDC)--system data integration stage, product thinking integration stage, and big data human resource management stage--as the main line, the case was aimed at exploring how Tencent has infused the element of "Internet+" into the traditional three-pillar model of HR, and also deeply investigated the background, reasons, specific methods, and significance of the behavior. In this case, students were asked to consider why Tencent needed to upgrade its SSC to SDC in just four years, how Tencent succeeded in doing so, and what inspirations for HR transformation of Internet companies today can be drawn from Tencent's SSC upgrading.
