Summary:
This case is about MedMen Enterprises Inc. (MedMen), one of the best-known cannabis retailers in the United States. Since its inception, the company has occurred losses as it aggressively invested in selling recreational cannabis in anticipation of it becoming legal in the United States. As cash flow deteriorated, co-founders Adam Bierman and Andrew Modlin tried to fulfill supplier and other payment commitments by issuing common stocks instead of cash. However, the strategy did not work. MedMen then underwent restructuring efforts intending to increase the efficiency of operations. By June 2020, MedMen co-founders left the company's board due to leadership issues, and Tom Lynch was announced as the interim CEO. What were the possible causes of downfall of MedMen? How can Lynch improve the financial performance of MedMen?
