Summary:
This case focuses on Karen and Twan Bentlage the owners of two hair waxing salons in New York City. The two stores have experienced robust demand, but the business has also suffered its fair share of problems. The operating partner had walked away from the venture leaving Karen and Twan to pick up the slack. Additionally, Karen and Twan want to continue to grow aggressively and add more salons within the Manhattan market. Recently an investor has come forward with an offer to open 12 franchised stores in New York City. The Bentlages must now decide whether to continue developing the market by themselves or seek outside help through franchising and investment.
