- Summary:
- Elizabeth Maquay's Journals are contained within the period 1821 to 1845. She does not keep a consistent series of Journals for this period of time. Her writing is generally done without punctuation and with poor spelling, particularly of names and places.
- Notes:
- Lord Caccia gave the British Institute the journals and correspondence of his ancestors, the Maquays, an Irish banking family, transferred through marriage to Florence in the early nineteenth century. The journals of male and female members of three generations of the family cover most of the nineteenth century and reveal much about the Anglo-Florentine community, and travel around Europe in the period.
