- Head of letterpress t.p. for the abridgement of Gil Blas reads: Hogg's edition.
- Letterpress t.p.s include undated imprint.
- Publisher's advt. on last leaf of v. 7 indicates that original weekly numbers included engraved t.p. and frontis. plate.
- Printed in two columns.
- A collection of previously published novels, including: Pamela, Sir Charles Grandison, Clarissa Harlowe, Don Quixote, an abridged ed. of Gil Blas translated by Smollett, and miscellaneous romances; no. 75-84 [v. 7?] concludes with portraits and biographical sketches of Smollett and Alain René Le Sage. Not to be confused with a similar title published by Harrison and Co. in the 1780s.
