- Summary:
- Annotation Anthropologists Bolin (Elon College, </In Search of Eve/>) and Whelehan (State U. of New York) draw from their discipline to offer an undergraduate text that recognizes human sexuality as anchored in and to particular cultures and surveys some cultures besides western. They take an evolutionary approach, assuming that early primate sexuality must surely have predated our own, rather than pivoting their treatment on conflict and issues. They explore anatomy and physiology, pregnancy and childbirth, sexuality at different stages of development, birth control, gender identity and roles, HIV infection and AIDS, and other topics. They include a glossary without pronunciation. Annotation c. Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com).
