Summary:
"Chico da Silva and the Pirambu workshop" is the first major panoramic exhibition of the artist and traces the legacy of one of the first Brazilian artists of indigenous origin to achieve prominence in the national scene and abroad. The exhibition is the most comprehensive ever held by an institution about the artist, bringing together a set of important works from the trajectory of Chico da Silva (Acre, 1910 or 1922/23 - Fortaleza, Ceará, 1985), considered one of those responsible for transforming the artistic scene of Ceará from the 1940s, with his fabulous compositions full of mythological monsters, fantastic beasts and other characters. In addition to presenting Chico's oeuvre made between 1943-1984, the exhibition features works by five artists who were part of his studio and intensely contributed to creating his paintings: Babá (Sebastião Lima da Silva), Chica da Silva (Francisca Silva), Claudionor (José Claudio Nogueira), Garcia (José dos Santos Gomes) and Ivan (Ivan José de Assis).
