- Summary:
- Few singers are more in demand on the world’s greatest stages than Sir Bryn Terfel, the Welsh bass-baritone who made his Met debut 25 years ago as Figaro in Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro. In anticipation of Terfel’s return to the Met—headlining a new production of Wagner’s Der Fliegende Holländer in 2020—enjoy some of his most memorable performances with the company. In a Met career spanning more than 100 performances of 11 roles, Terfel found early success with comedic parts, such as Leporello in Mozart’s Don Giovanni and the larger-than-life title character of Verdi’s final masterpiece, Falstaff. An artist of exceptional range, he has also thrilled audiences with commanding performances of dramatic roles, from the sinister Scarpia in Puccini’s Tosca to Wotan in Wagner’s Ring cycle.
