Summary:
History and architectural aspects of the popular town Robert Fitz Roy, located south of Punta Arenas and an example of the current modernist movement that the CORVI (Coorporación de la Vivienda) implemented to solve the housing problem in the 1960's. The book puts in value, through a rigorous and patient analysis of archival sources, a particular urban space executed during the 1960s after being awarded to the architects of the Taller de Arquitectura y Urbanismo (TAU). Far from being limited to the limits of the complex and its architecture, the authors explain and describe the urban processes of the city of Punta Arenas between 1900 and 1970, the result and ideas of the architectural competition sponsored by the CORVI, and the conditions of production of an era whose heritage is manifested in different cities of Chile to this day.
