Summary:
Description: This series consists of receipts for monies paid out by the under warden, who was responsible for the Company's accounts until 1907. Many receipts consist of bills with receipt of payment added at a later date; folders also contain some bills without receipts; some later folders also contain Treasurers' vouchers. Many different expenses are recorded, including: Company annuities; tithes paid to St Martin's Ludgate; charitable gifts paid to Christ's Hospital, St Faith's, St Mary at Hill, St Martin Vintry and St Martin Ludgate; books sent to Kemsey Manor; maintenance of a preacher at St Paul's; tradesmen's wages and expenses; dinner expenses; Beadle's expenses; salaries of staff, including the Clerk, bargemaster, hall keeper, scavenger, watchman and gardener; payment of land, window, orphan and new river water taxes; payment of rent; payments towards the militia; water charges for Lord Mayor's Day; and payments of interest owed by the Company to members.
