- Summary:
- Founded in 1855 as the first interracial and coeducational college in the South, Berea's commitment to interracial education was overturned in 1904 by the Kentucky Legislature's passage of the Day Law. This collection comprises papers relating to the education of Black students at Berea College, including correspondence, the college catalogue for 1901-2, a typescript profiling outstanding alumni between 1874 and 1906 and an 1895 printed appeal for aid to the college.
