Summary:
This is a manuscript fragment of Alfasi's Halakhot from Masekhet Eruvin, surviving in two leaves although originally one folio leaf (approximately 415 x 335 mm, based on the division of text in both the preserved and stripped portions; the folio was cut to fit a binding, with the center surviving in strips; the bottom of the stripped portion has separated from the top of the current f. 2). The text begins near the beginning of the first chapter, with במבוי עקום כחנניה ואליב' דב[ית] ה[לל] והילכת' כתרוייהו (f. 1r), continuing until ואחר כך מת אחד מהן כי מעיקרא (what originally was the end of the folio side; f. 2r); the verso of the original folio began with לא חיישינן לזה שמת (f. 1v) and continues until ולא בעי כוס | הדרן (the verso contained the text of the end of the first chapter (מבוי), and the complete second (עושין פסין) and third (בכל מערבין) chapters (f. 1v,2v). The manuscript contains many textual variants to the standard editions.
Notes:
Ms. fragment.
Title supplied by cataloger.
Layout: Written in two columns, of which 51 lines survive; chapter indicators written in margins (f. 2v); frame-ruled in drypoint (faintly visible on rectos).
Script: Written in an Ashkenazic-Northern French semicursive script.
Origin: Written likely in Northern France, between 1250-1350.
