Summary:
This is a manuscript leaf which was probably separated from a manuscript codex or printed book, inscribed in sequence of children born to an unnamed Yemeni family. The earliest inscription is verses in praise of a groom (opening חתן נעים עלה בתוך עם), composed for the summons to the synagogue Torah reading on the week the wedding was to take place ("קום חתן לקרא בתורה קום מהרה", eleventh line); below is an inscription of the birth of the scribe's son Yiḥiya, on Friday, eve of Yom Kippur 623 (3 October 1863; recto); successional births of males listed in succession, and names filled in a blue ink (ranging between 1919 and 1935): Saʻid, Yiḥiya, Yeshʻaya, Yosef, and Daṿid. Written in a Yemeni square script (recto, and one inscription on verso) and a Yemeni cursive script (verso).
