Summary:
This documentary follows the 17 days of the 12th Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, from the moment where John Giordano (the chairman of the jury) names the 12 semifinalists of the competition to the Grail: the award ceremony. Filmmaker Andy Sommer leads his camera everywhere on stage, backstage, and in the Texan families hosting the pianists during the contest. This film witnesses the fears, the apprehensions, the cries, but also the passion and the joyful moments of candidates who would become, more than surely, great artists of international fame.
Participant:
Featuring selected pianists, the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, James Conlon, conductor, and the Takács Quartet.
