- Summary:
- This programme captures the musical encounter between one of the most talented conductors of his generation with arguably the best chamber orchestra musicians. They are joined by worldwide renowned pianist Hélène Grimaud in a programme featuring Strauss and Ravel, filmed in Paris in 2009 Metamorphosen, is one of the composer's last works. This long, dark movement was composed for 23 string instruments, and explores various themes and tones, without focusing on a particular structure. Ravel's Piano concerto in G Major makes us forget about the sombre atmosphere of Metamorphosen with the brilliant performance of Hélène Grimaud, a talented artist who has played with the greatest chamber musicians, such as Martha Argerich, Dmitri Bashkirov, Gidon Kremer, Shlomo Mintz, Gil Shaham, Paul Meyer, Mischa Maisky, Truls Mørk, Christine Schäfer, Lisa Batiashvili, Thomas Quasthoff, Sol Gabetta, Gautier Capuçon and Renaud Capuçon. She has received various prestigious prizes and has recorded 22 albums.
