- Summary:
- In 2008, the reputation of the Ébène Quartet was booming and the Verbier Festival invited the musicians to perform in the church ... The four musicians are former students of the Ysäye Quartet in the Paris Conservatoire. Pierre Colombet, Gabriel Le Magadure, Mathieu Herzog and Raphaël Merlin first met while studying at the Boulogne-Billancourt Conservatoire in 1999. Ten years after, they are considered as one of the best young French quartets for the quality of their musical touch. The Ébène Quartet performed Schubert's String Quartet Death and the Maiden in which each movement carries a well-renowned musical theme. The second part of the concert is Mozart's Divertimento No. 1. A few weeks after their performance at Verbier, their recording of Debussy, Fauré and Ravel was published by Virgin Classics and has enjoyed world-wide success.
