Summary:
Percussionist and composer Kahil El Zabar invites you to follow him on a sound journey on the stage of the Banlieues Bleues festival, in 2014. With him, you will explore the concept of "Great Black Music", born in Chicago with the efforts of the Association for the Advancement of Creative Musicians (AACM), that El Zabar chaired for several years. This organization, whose objectives are plentiful, notably supports jazz music and its performers, composers, and educators. Kahil El Zabar is one of the figureheads of "Black Renaissance", which aims to look beyond the scope of the sole African American heritage, towards universality.
Participant:
Dwight Trible, singer ; Ari Brown, saxophonist ; Junius Paul, Bass guitarist ; Kahil El Zabar, percussionist.
