- Summary:
- Martha Argerich's recordings, dated 1977, and previously unreleased, are now available! For the 70th birthday of Martha Argerich, the series "Classic archive" rediscovered some BBC unreleased recordings of the Argentinian pianist's performances with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Sir Charles Groves in 1977 at the Guild Hall, in Preston. Find out the artist's the interpretation of Tchaikovsky's First piano concerto. This was a very demanding piano score for Martha Argerich, who, nevertheless, masterfully performed with those unequalled skills and firm touch which gave her the reputation of "Argentinean lioness." At the time of the recording Martha Argerich is 35. A genius of the piano, by that time, she had already an international reputation, notably thank to the prestigious Chopin competition she won in 1965 in Warsaw. She was praised for her virtuosity and her originality in interpreting the art of the piano, as well as for her self-direction, not to say her rebellion. The cherished offspring of the critics and the public, in 1977 she had already abandoned the musical scene twice. Fortunately, this period of silence ended after three years, in 1976
