- Summary:
- 2011 celebrated Franz Liszt's 200th anniversary. Khatia Buniatishvili's Liszt was released in the same year and obtained public favor. A regular of the Verbier Festival, at the 2011 edition the young pianist Khatia Buniatishvili shined for her virtuosity, notably in the recital she gave in the church of Verbier, where she recreated the dreamlike atmospheres of Liszt and Chopin. By contrast, together with the Romantics, she chose to performed Stravinsky and Prokofiev: the modernity of the Sonata No. 7 by Prokofiev echoed the enthusiastic rhythm of Stravinsky's Petrouchka. Two demanding works that nevertheless didn't scare Khatia Buniatishvili who made Russian music her speciality.
