Summary:
The documentary film "Shattered wings" aims to retrace the beginnings of the creative process between three internationally reputed dancers -- Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, Yasuyuki Shuto and Dimitri Jourde -- and the Corsican polyphonic ensemble, A Filetta, their encounter and their desire to create together a piece entitled Apocrifu for the Théâtre de la Monnaie in Brussels. Apocrifu is an introspective look into art, choreography, corporality, Corsican polyphonic singing, humanity, religion and poetry. In Antwerp, where the piece Apocrifu is being made for the Théâtre de la Monnaie in Brussels, the three dancers -- Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, Yasuyuki Shuto and Dimitri Jourde -- are working together with a mix of codes and vocabulary, underscored by the differences in their style and training -- circus arts, classical and contemporary dance; as many schools of dance as nationalities, all delineated by the Corsican polyphonic singing of A Filetta, which accompanies them through the entire journey. The documentary on Apocrifu opens like a spool of thread, as a series of passages, bridges, parallels in a story of religions, and in the stories that culturally compose each individual. Each gesture brings us to another movement, each reply to another question, each man to another man. The picture painted of religion is a sobering one, but it opens doors to intermingling, to exchange, and, from this "source", it denounces the artifices of religions, their rules, consistently rooting for respect for human rights.
