- Summary:
- A beautiful documentary about one of the greatest choreographers, Lin Hwai-min, exploring the influences that fed his style, between Asia and the West. With interviews of the choreographer and testimonies of his dancers -- including the Zurich Ballet Corps -- fed rehearsals in the studio shows, passages of everyday life of the choreographer, this documentary helps to understand its unique approach to dance. Lin Hwai-min tries to sublimate the technique by working around inspiration, urging his dancers to tap their energy in thinking on stage, bypassing the dance itself. This work that focuses as much on the mind as the body requires them to release their energy, building bridges between each movement and understanding what they transmit to the public. A native of Taiwan, Lin Hwai-Min studied there Chinese opera movements then formed to contemporary dance in New York before returning to Taiwan in the 70s, when he received the title of "Choreographer of the 20th century "in Dance Europe and" Best Choreographer "at Lyon Biennial. He is the founder of the Cloud Gate Dance Theatre in Taiwan
