- Summary:
- A rediscovery of a little known opera by Verdi, I Masnadieri, through the explanation of the director Gabriele Lavia and music director Nicola Luisotti for this production filmed at the Teatro San Carlo in Naples in 2012. While I Masdanieri (literal translation: "The Robbers") is not listed among the great successes of the composer (La Traviata, Il trovatore and Rigoletto), this production at the Teatro San Carlo in Naples brings a new and modern light on this opera that Verdi composed quite young, during his years of hardship" The opera was created in 1847 in London but was poorly received by the public at the time.
