Summary:
Simon Carrington and young conductors bring a breath of fresh air to Handel's Messiah. Simon Carrington is a multi-talented musician. In 25 years, he made is name as a chorister and as the co-founder of the internationally acclaimed and prize-winner British vocal ensemble The King's Singers. Not only is he a great singer, but also a talented double bassist, playing regularly with prestigious British Orchestras such as the BBC Philharmonic or the Monteverdi Orchestra. In 1994, he settled in the USA, teaching at the Kansas University or the New England Conservatory. In 2003, he started to teach Orchestral Conducting at the Yale School of Music and founded the Yale Schola Cantorum that he conducted during six years. He is now at the head of his own choir, The Simon Carrington Chamber Singers, travelling the world the conduct orchestras, or give workshops and masterclasses. Quite familiar with the masterclass practice, he works with four young conductors on choruses from Handel's Messiah, one of the composer's most famous masterpieces. The Masterclass Media Foundation Archives offers to students and music lovers around the world filmed masterclasses, given by the best talents, on the greatest works of the classical repertoire. Their primary purpose is to provide a valuable educational resource in order to perpetuate passion and knowledge from one generation to another.
