Summary:
Keys to Orchestra The lessons given during the last 10 years by Jean-François Zygel, the incomparable pianist and teacher, at the Town Hall of the 20th arrondissement in Paris that the Production company Naïve filmed in recent years are famous. They have helped us to gain a special insight into the works of Bartok, Chopin, Shostakovich, Debussy, Fauré, Mendelssohn, Ravel, and more recently Mozart. During these music lessons, Jean-François Zygel presents the composers' works, providing his own piano accompaniment, and is often joined by musicians. In this way he enables his audience to (re)discover part of the classical music repertoire in a manner which is both fun and instructive. Keys to orchestra -- Le Boléro de Ravel Why is the Bolero so popular? Is the Bolero always truly the same? How does Ravel build up his crescendo? And by the way, what is a crescendo? ... Jean-François Zygel answers all these questions and others besides. In a little more than one hour, before an audience of children and adults, he dissects the famous Bolero to reveal in simple terms the secrets of its fabrication.
