Performing with the American jazz pianist Chick Corea and the Cypriot pianist Nicolas Economou, composer-pianist Rodion Shchedrin displays his lesser-known talent for improvisation in a concert full of delightful surprises! Rodion Shchedrin is recognized around the globe for both his groundbreaking compositions and his gifts as a pianist, one of the greatest of his generation. Devoted to his Russian heritage, his works are strongly influenced by Russian literature, poetry, folklore and musich, and in 1992 he was awarded the the Russian State Prize for his composition, "The Sealed Angel." In this documentary, Shchedrin reveals yet another side his genius: his considerable abilities as an improviser!
