Summary:
The Polish pianist initiates us to the mysteries of the Beethoven's "Diabelli variations." Fascinating! "It's a journey. You have to pack your bags and set off on it. Once it's over, you come out of it transformed." The journey on which Piotr Anderszewski is inviting us is Beethoven's Diabelli Variations, a piece lasting over an hour composed of thirty-three variations, "Initially a single little cell which eventually becomes a universe of human experiences" as he described it. And a monument of music for the piano, associated with Anderszewski, who became famous performing it in the Leeds competition in 1990 when he was still very young (born in 1969, he is of Polish and Hungarian origin). From then on, he constantly reworks it until this recording session in the summer of 2000 that Bruno Monsaingeon filmed in Lugano. Before playing, by presenting a clear analysis of this piece Piotr Anderszewski unravels its complexity
